The Cost of Beauty (Quote from Happy Daze, Life After 40, Brenda J Wood)

Why do we chase after youth and worldly beauty? Don’t you know that older folks have a special place in God’s heart?

I will be your God through all your lifetime, yes, even when your hair is white with age. I made you and I will care for you. I will carry you along and be your Savior.

(Isaiah 46:4, TLB)

You shall give due honor and respect to the elderly, in the fear of God. I am Jehovah.

(Leviticus 19:32, TLB)

White hair is a crown of glory and is seen most among the godly.

(Proverbs 16:31, TLB)

(Oops – Did you know that colouring our hair costs about 2-3% of our income? Seventy to one hundred dollars a month slips through our hands for hair care. Try multiplying that over a life time and buy yourself a house instead!

Why do we do it? Is it fear, vanity, or peer pressure? Do we believe that only the young are attractive? Why don’t we embrace change, with grace?

The glory of young men is their strength; of old men, their experience.

(Proverbs 20:29, TLB)

You shall live a long, good life; like standing grain, you’ll not be harvested until it’s time!

(Job 5:26, TLB)

Youth is a state of mind. What is your state of mind?
