I have a favorite place to be. It is in the secret place of the Lord. This is the place I can go and be me. It is the place that exists in the depths of my soul in which no other person may enter. It is a place of divine restoration, healing and grace.
Psalm 91:1 says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
I can still recall the days when my children were younger and it seemed I could never escape their reach. They found me wherever I went…the bathroom, the laundry room. I could never really just get away. Until one day I discovered a secret place.
That secret place had less to do with my physical environment. In other words, what room I was in didn’t matter, it had more to do with my spiritual environment. I discovered that I could find a place with God that allowed me to enter and shut out everyone and everything.
There are moments in time when I am surrounded by a lot of activity and noise, yet I still find God. I have learned to dwell with Him no matter what is going on around me. I don’t really know how to describe getting to this place.
I guess the best way I can is to say that it has taken practicing the presence of God. It has been learning over the course of these past 15 years or so that God can be reached at any time.
A relationship with the Lord is not about the circumstances in our life. There will never be a “right” time, a “right place, a “right” attitude or whatever else you think is necessary to spend time with God. It is always the right time and the right place, and guess what? He takes you as you are.
It is in the secret place of the Lord that you find everything you need. Discover it today.
