Romans 4:8–Blessed and happy and to be envied are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered up and completely buried (AMP).
As children, my siblings and I helped Dad pick stones off the farm fields so that they’d be suitable for cultivation. One stone looked small enough on the surface but we just could not budge it. Out came the shovels. Finally, dad got out the tractor and some chains. No go. The rock stayed, hard, half-submerged and ready to continually slow the harvest by breaking plough shear, cultivator tine or combine blade.
When Father God begins to clear our lives of sin, He starts to show us our hard places. Some things will be easier to deal with than others. But when we come across the few that are too big to root out, God gently takes His hand, and covers them with fresh soil, soil so deep that we need never stumble or fall over them again. He too, wants a flourishing harvest.
Our job is to stop digging up what God has buried.
Prayer: Lord, we have been stuck in some old ways, attitudes and behaviors. Remind us again, that you have buried them all deep. Amen!
