Thinking Yourself into Trouble

Yes, friend, you think yourself into being. The thoughts you think start in your mind and then go
to your body and then your actions.
For instance, I am eating a pleasant, filling lunch. And suddenly, I think, “What will I have for
dessert?”
I am full. I don’t need more food, but the thought of dessert lingers. I stand to my feet and begin
to rummage through the cupboards. I am looking for something that isn’t there, because I never
keep sweets in my home. This is because I really know my inner self. If it is there, I will eat it.
I find nothing in my cupboards. I search some more. Then, one of many things will happen.

  1. I bake a sweet something.
  2. I borrow some from the neighbour.
  3. I drive out in search of anything.
  4. I end up at a grocery.
  5. I go through a drive through
  6. Or I change my thought to…” An apple sounds perfect right now.”
With enough practice, we will think number six first and never let the other five linger in
    our minds.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so
that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
    (Romans 12:2)
