Turpitude

Wonder what that means? Turpitude is a word from the 15th century but it’s just a fancy name for sin.  Oh, I could call it by its synonyms like depravity, wickedness, immorality, depravity, corruption, vice, degeneracy, evil, baseness, iniquity, vileness, nefariousness, flagitiousness. It’s all the same thing. SIN.

Maybe you like to call sin other than what it is. Maybe you call it entertainment, false news, error, misinformation, business, whatever.

Friends, it is still sin. It is pornography, sexual misconduct, lying, crooked dealings. Rename it if you like. It is still sin. Sin is sin and if you are involved in any of it you are a sinner.

We might call you an evildoer, immoralist, or, wrongdoer. We could call you a criminal, crook, felon, lawbreaker, miscreant, offender, reprobate, transgressor, villain. Yep, folks pick your poison. You are walking in it.

God offers redemption. He loves the sinner. He hates your sin.

Go easy on those who hesitate in the faith. Go after those who take the wrong way. Be tender with sinners, but not soft on sin. The sin itself stinks to high heaven. (Jude 1:22-23, MSG)

Prayer- Dear God, I am sorry for all my sins, and I repent of them all. I give you my life today, and I confess my faith in your Son Jesus Christ that he is Lord. I believe that Jesus died and rose from the dead to give me eternal life; I confess my faith in him, and I accept him as my personal Lord and Savior. Because I have done that, Jesus sends his Holy Spirit to live in me!  Amen.
