The songs my husband and I grew up with and danced to sound quite different to me now. The words are the same, but our situations have changed. My hubby is with Jesus and I am alone. Now I listen to them through my new circumstances.
For instance, I invite you to do a word search on songs like ‘Welcome to my World’. (Written by Ray Winkler and John Hathcock and recorded by folks like Jim Reeves and Elvis Presley). Listen to the words and you will hear Matthew 7:7-8.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8, NIV)
How is it that I misinterpreted the song all these years? It is a clear invitation to come to Jesus.
Have you done that?
Take a listen and make the decision or maybe strengthen your original one!
Prayer – Lord, help us hear the many ways you are calling us to yourself. Amen.
