What Keeps Us from Sin

For years, I thought that if I just kept close to Jesus, I could be free of sin. Unfortunately, that was not particularly successful.

Then I finally figured out that success is not available when anything is up to me. Instead of me being near Jesus, I finally understood that actually it is Jesus who is near me. He is reliable when I am not. Through his blood and in his name, a sinless life is possible, even for folks like me.

 But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were [so] far away, through (by, in) the blood of Christ have been brought near. (Ephesians 2:13, AMP)
