A local couple often tune in to our pastor’s devotionals on line. And God whispered into my heart…send them a card with a salvation prayer booklet in it. I didn’t. It came up repeatedly in my mind. I didn’t follow through.
Then they came to my house to drop off a card for me! I grabbed a booklet and we exchanged at the door. I wonder what would have happened if I had missed that opportunity once more?
1 Samuel 3 tells of another time God repeated himself. Very early in the morning, young Samuel heard “Samuel, Samuel!” He ran to Eli the priest who sent him back to bed. This happened several times until Eli figured out it was God speaking to Samuel.
Eli said to Samuel, Go, lie down. And if He calls you, you shall say, Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening. So, Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, Samuel! Samuel! Then Samuel answered, Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.
(1 Samuel 3: 9-10, AMPC)
And Samuel answered, “Speak. I’m your servant, ready to listen.”
Are we ready to step out when God speaks?
