When Life Falters

So, your life is not as you would like it. I get it. Mine too. Just because we asked Jesus to be our Lord and Saviour, we can’t expect a free pass. Eliphaz pointed this out to Job.

“Would you mind if I said something to you?

Under the circumstances it’s hard to keep quiet.

You yourself have done this plenty of times, spoken words that clarify,

Encouraged those who were about to quit.

Your words have put stumbling people on their feet,

Put fresh hope in people about to collapse.

But now you’re the one in trouble—you’re hurting!

You’ve been hit hard and you’re reeling from the blow.

(Job 4:1-5, MSG)

Now mind, Eliphaz goes well off- course in the following verses, but I want to linger on these. We’ve all spoken words of encouragement to the hurting, but now we hurt. Are we willing to take our own advice?

“We must never forget that the highest form of appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

John F. Kennedy

In case you need your memory jogged, it’s all about Jesus. Are you all in for him?
