When in Rome . . .

When I was in Israel, several Christians thought it ‘cool’ to be Jewish. They purchased Star of David jewelry, and used many Jewish phrases. They tried to look Jewish, that is, until Friday night and Shabbat. Everything stops for Shabbat, because this is a very holy time, decreed in the Law of Moses.

Until then our hotel had served the finest of meals but for Shabbat, we had only five choices, all of them cold.  The wannabes insisted that they wanted onion soup which was not on the menu, because it was not cold and definitely not Shabbat. Suddenly those folks no longer wanted to be Jewish.

Do we look like Christ followers only when it suits us? What are we really like when it counts?

…be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work. (2 Timothy 2:21b, AMP)

Prayer- Lord, help us be what we say we are. Amen.
