Why Lists Work

Do you make lists? They work don’t they! That’s why so many articles show up in list form.  It is true that more people will read a list than an essay.  Here is the logic behind using lists.

The writers (and the reader!) don’t have to think too hard. Lists are short and easy to share. The reader can stop reading at any point and still have some information in their brain.

Do you suppose that is why God wrote the 10 commandments in list form? They do fit all the guidelines I mentioned. See? God does know everything, even how to get our attention for life changing subjects!

And why wouldn’t he? Look how the list begins:

And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. (Exodus 20:1-2, KJV)

Furthermore that list is scattered throughout the New Testament… stay tuned for tomorrow’s devotional!

Prayer – Thanks, God for the Ten Commandments; a list that is easy to read and even easy to obey when we have the help of your Holy Spirit. Amen
