World Food Day

Did you know that today is World Food Day? Why celebrate food, you ask? Well, that’s not really the purpose of World Food Day. While it is the day that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations began in 1945, it is also the day to recognize that thousands of people right under our very noses live in constant fear of hunger.

“Be generous. Give to the poor. Get yourselves a bank that can’t go bankrupt, a bank in heaven far from bankrobbers, safe from embezzlers, a bank you can bank on. (Luke 12:33, MSG)

Be generous to the poor—you’ll never go hungry. (Proverbs 28:27, MSG)

Donate (preferably money) to your local food bank. Look around you and see a neighbor who would benefit from the abundant produce in your garden. Invite a less fortunate family in for dinner.

Prayer- Father God, help us feed those with both hungry hearts and hungry bellies. Amen.
