Worry Box

I love this poem from my Granny’s papers.

“Build for yourself a strong box, fashion each part with care;
When it’s strong as your hand can make it, put all your troubles there;
Hide there all thought of your failures, and each bitter cup that you quaff;
Lock all your heartaches within it, then sit on the lid and laugh.

“Tell no one else of its contents, never its secrets share;
When you’ve dropped in your care and worry, keep them forever there;
Hide them from sight so completely that the world will never dream half;
Fasten the strong box securely then sit on the lid and laugh.”(Author Unknown)

This is why we can be joyful even in the midst of difficulties. I have really filled my own personal box this year because I can’t worry about things I simply can’t do with a broken arm.

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” (Psalm 126:2, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, please fill our mouths with laughter and our lips with shouts of joy. Amen (from Job 8:21, NIV)
