Charles Swindoll, the voice behind the ministry, Insight for Living, is also an accomplished author. I am enrolled for my M.A. in seminary and am pastoring a church that has a desire to grow and evangelize the town of Mulvane, Kansas.  The arrival of the book by Charles Swindoll, The Church Awakening: An Urgent Call for Renewal was perfect in timing. This book shows how you can make your church contagious…so much so that people just can’t stay away. I devoured the book in less than a week and

Back in July, I had the privilege of meeting Contemporary Christian singer, Meredith Andrews. She's a little woman with a passionate heart and very powerful voice. Last month, I checked back in with her. She was off the road and her doctor was feeding her anything and everything and had told her to rest as she prepared for the birth of her first child due on August 28, 2010. Maverick Elijah Sooter arrived a little off schedule on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Mom and baby are doing

When you hear the name Glenn Beck what do you think?  Crazy man?  Radical?  Defender of our country?  Conservative?

No matter what labels you put on the man, there is no doubt that he is at the very least passionate.  He speaks what is on his mind and he doesn’t care what others think.  I think sometimes we as believers could really learn something from that.

This past Saturday Glenn Beck hosted a “Restoring Honor” event at the National Mall in Washington.  This was no political rally.

Several years ago, there was a young man who excelled at the sport of high diving, and to compliment his training for the Olympics, he attended a university where his skill could be honed to that of near perfect. He had a brilliant coach and the best available facilities.  The only thing this young man didn’t like was that his roommate was a Christian who loved to shared the Gospel.

The roommate shared his faith of a Savior who came, lived, and died on the cross to pay the penalty for

The Challenge Of Raising Christian Teens

Stating that parents sometimes have a tendency to water down their faith – if they acknowledge it all – is hardly a novel statement.

Author and theology professor Kenda Dean stated that if that is what presented to teens in personal relationships and corporate worship settings, than Christian adults are getting what they deserve when their kids abandon or largely ignore faith when they reach adulthood.

"If this is the God they're seeing in church, they are right to leave us in the dust,"

Growing up in a family environment where the men rule the nest can be pleasant and full of security or sometimes can be dangerous and abusive depending on the family dynamics. There are some families where the loving father is highly respected not because it is demanded of his family, but because he has earned it as a loving, gentle, father and husband, leading his family and providing for his family.

There are other families who take scripture to extreme and take the passage of Ephesians

Is Taking Time for Yourself Selfish?

Is taking time for yourself selfish?  There are different schools of thought on this.  Some believe that Christians should never put the focus on their own personal needs.  Our job is to serve others.  Others believe that we need time to rest, quoting the scripture verse about how even God rested on the 7thday.

What I really believe helps us determine if we are being selfish is what the motives are behind it.  If we decide that we are burnt out on ministry, are we stepping down because we

Blood Donors Versus Cancer

There’s Power in the Blood, an old Gospel hymn has an obvious meaning that there’s power in the blood of Jesus Christ to forgive sins.  But there’s power in your blood too.   There are personal benefits for the donor who donates blood, like it lowers blood pressure, raises good cholesterol levels (HDL) while lowering the bad (LDL), reduces dangerous platelets or clots, purifies the blood, stimulates the production of red (iron rich) blood cells, lowers the risk for heart attacks, heart
