Sharon’s Hit List

‘I call it my hit list, said Sharon.  I wondered what on earth she was talking about. Surely, she didn’t really mean that she’d made a list of people she wanted to ‘take out.’  If you knew Sharon, you’d understand my confusion. She’s a sweet, darling gal about my age. She didn’t seem to the kind of person who kept grudges.

Thankfully, she continued. ‘I just started with the A-B-C’s,’ she grinned. ‘Then I wrote down every name I could think of it. These are the people I intend to remember in prayer every day. They won’t know what hit them!’

I haven’t focused my prayers so well as Sharon. During my prayer time if someone shows up in my mind, I pray for them.

Some web prayer sites ask that we list our prayers (for a small fee!) so the machine can pray them for us. Now that’s a weird and scary proposition. How can a machine properly know our heart’s cry?

The Bible says that we know the affliction of our own heart. 1 Kings 8:38-Whatever prayer or supplication is made by any or all of Your people Israel--each man knowing the affliction of his own heart, and spreading forth his hands toward this house [and its pledge of Your presence] (AMP).

God knows our hearts and hears and answers every prayer.

1 Kings 8:39- Then hear in heaven, Your dwelling place, and forgive and act and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart You know, for You and You only know the hearts of all the children of men (AMP).

The list of prayers seems to cover every event.

1 Kings 8:37- If there is famine in the land or pestilence, blight, mildew, locust, or caterpillar, if their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is (AMP).

I’m grateful for friends like Sharon who pray for me on a regular basis; but even more grateful for a God that knows and understands my heart and answers my prayers. How about you?

Prayer: God-It is so comforting to know that when we ask ‘what shall we do, Lord,’ You answer us. (Acts 22:10a-AMP). In the name of Christ. Amen.
