War Horse

Canadians have a real life war horse hero. Bunny worked for the Toronto Police Force but was one of 18 horses donated to the Canadian Military effort. In 1915, Bunny ended up in Ypres in Belgium and was on the front lines when the Germans released their first gas attacks.
Horses on the front lines lived an average of 40 days. 81,000 Canadian horses went to war and only about 60 came back. Only officers’ horses were shipped back to Canada. Bunny was sold for about $40.00 and stayed in Europe. No one knows how his story ended.
As much as Bunny tried, he could not save himself or those around him.
Psalm 33:16-17-The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue (ESV).
Let’s stop arguing the point. No creature, critter or character, can save themselves or anyone else for that matter. That means you and me as well. We cannot save ourselves or anyone else.
Psalm 3:8a- Salvation belongs to the Lord (AMP).
1 John 2:17-Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the message which you have heard [the doctrine of salvation through Christ] (AMP).
Ephesians 2:8-For it is by free grace (God's unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God (AMP).
Prayer: Lord, remind us that we are not you and never will be. Salvation through us and our actions? Laughable in deed. Forgive us when we get so uppity. Amen.
