What Happened?

Did you know that on Jan. 10, 1843, Alexander Franklin (Frank) James was born at the family farm in Kearney, Missouri? Reverend Robert Sallee James and Zerelda Cole James also birthed Jesse Woodson James, on September 5, 1847.

No doubt you remember the infamous James boys. They were Confederate Guerrillas during the Civil War and accused of participating in atrocities committed against Union soldiers. After the war, they robbed banks, stagecoaches and trains.

Where did those boys go wrong?  Their daddy was a minister for goodness sake!

Was it lack of discipline?

Proverbs 13:24-Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him (NSV).

Or unconquered sin?

Genesis 4:7b- Sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.” (NSV).

Or simply wrong choices?

Joshua 24:15-And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve (NSV).

Who knows? We do know that our lives affect others. What are we doing with ours?

Prayer: Lord, don’t let us waste our lives. Help us make a difference for Christ today. Amen.
