When I Needed You

Mondays seem especially difficult. I notice the emptiness more for some reason and my heart is especially heavy today. So instead of eating, I write. The TV blares behind me but I don't really pay attention to “America's Got Talent” blaring in the background.
That is, I don't listen until I recognize the words of this song.
...If tomorrow never comes, will she know how much I love her? Will she know how much I care…And the grace of God pours over me all over again as I listen to the words of the song Ron chose for his funeral service.
You might think I grasp at straws, looking for some kind of purpose in my pain. Maybe I do. But somewhere a singer ‘randomly’ chose a song for his audition. Because he had a good voice, he made it to the stage and he got to sing that song all the way through without getting buzzed. And I heard it when I needed it.
Psalm 9:1-4 I'm thanking you, God, from a full heart, I'm writing the book on your wonders. I'm whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy; I'm singing your song, High God. The day my enemies turned tail and ran, they stumbled on you and fell on their faces. You took over and set everything right; when I needed you, you were there, taking charge (MSG).
Prayer: God, thank you for knowing exactly what we need and giving it to us. In Christ. Amen.
