If We Really Want To

Hoover Dam workmen needed to protect their heads so they drenched two baseball caps in tar, let them harden and thus created hard hats.
I wanted to decorate my home with Norman Rockwell wallpaper, but when I couldn’t find any, I pasted book prints on my walls. Voila.
We tell people our weight loss plan is not working but when a school reunion invitation surfaces, all of a sudden we have the strength to choose lettuce over ice cream.
Necessity is the mother of invention. When we really want to do something, we figure out a way to do it.
Faith is a Christian necessity but there is a little something about faith that we sometimes forget. Faith needs works to give it strength.
James 2:14-17-Dear friends, do you think you'll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, "Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!" and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you? Isn't it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?
Prayer: Father God, give us courage to follow God talk with God actions. In Christ. Amen.
