It’s an annual ritual for education-related publishers and various publications to rank colleges and universities for seemingly everything under the sun.
The Princeton Review, most commonly known for its college prep test reviews, recently released its “The Best 371 Colleges - 2010 Edition.”
In it are a multitude of lists ranging from campus political bent (most conservative - Texas A&M, most liberal - Warren Wilson College (N.C.)) to the infamous party school rankings (top party school - Penn State, top “stone-cold sober” school - Brigham Young).
Among this list are the top religious schools and least religious schools. Leading the way is Catholic-based Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, Calif., followed by the aforementioned BYU and Wheaton College in suburban Chicago which has one of the nation’s best known divinity schools.
The least religious schools surveyed were Bennington College (Bennington, Vt.), Eugene Lang College (New York City) and Reed College (Portland, Ore.).
The survey questioned 122,000 students at 371 colleges taken during the 2008-09 academic year or the previous two academic years.
