The online community Artsandfaith.com has released a list of its top 100 films of all time. Topping the list is Carl Dreyer’s silent 1927 classic The Passion of Joan of Arc. The Arts and Faith list showcases top films and directors from around the world. and includes silent movies, contemporary films, documentaries, musicals, animated and anime films. The Arts and Faith community is sponsored by Image, a contemporary arts and literature journal that grapples with religious questions.
Well-known filmmakers Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock and Orson Welles were represented on the list.
The Top 5 on the Arts and Faith list:
- The Passion of Joan of Arc
- Andrei Rublev
- Ordet
- The Decalogue
- Au Hasard Balthazar
Some of the more recognizable titles on the list include Tender Mercies, The Apostle, Chariots of Fire, It's a Wonderful Life, Apocalypse Now, Places in the Heart, Vertigo, Schindler's List, and The Iron Giant.
