Most of us probably remember the old Pilsbury commercials with the talking doughboy who giggles at the end when squeezed.
The actor who did that famous voice was JoBe Cerny. Cerny’s career has been filled with thousands of other commercials, but none of those roles were as daunting nor as meaningful as the one he has most recently created for himself.
Cerny put together a 79 compact disc set of 98 hours of audio theater in a rendition of the King James Version of the Bible, all the way from Genesis 1:1 all the way to Revelation 22:21.
The effort behind it is mind-boggling.
Cerny, a native of the Chicago suburb of Cicero, rounded up 600 actors for the production, and these aren’t people you’ve never heard of.
Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus in “The Passion of the Christ,” returns for the same role on CD.
Other notables include Richard Dreyfuss as Moses, Gary Sinise as David and Luke Perry as Judas. God is played by British actor Martin Jarvis.
