American Idol winner Kris Allen traveled to Haiti last month as a part of the Idol Gives Back program, a charitable organization founded by American Idol.
Allen’s quiet demeanor made him a bit of an enigma on last year’s season – it’s rare that someone so humble and like a “boy-next-door” could win over the bombast and theatrics of other contestants. But he won the same way he’s kept his popularity – by staying true to himself, his faith and his art.
His cover of the Beatles classic, “Let It Be” is currently on iTunes with all proceeds going to Haiti earthquake relief. It’s a classic, sung in true Kris Allen style – simple, soulful, and always powerful.
