Oh, Joe Biden. You do love saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, don’t you?
The trouble with Vice President Biden’s latest gaffe is that, just as this health care legislation was pushed through irreverently, the people who are so joyful about its’ passing are not being sensitive to the fact that many still oppose it. It was passed with no bi-partisanship, through a simple majority instead of the normally required two-thirds vote, and Capitol Hill phone lines were jammed all weekend with constituents asking that this legislation not be passed.
Sure, the pro-government-health-care side won this vote, and it is a big deal. But the gloating use of profanity is not right and shows a glaring disrespect for the Americans who didn’t want this bill passed. We should hold ourselves and our elected officials to a higher standard of respect, especially when passing controversial legislation.
People that have to use language such as the VP used, to express their selves, is not very intelligent. It puts them in the gutter where they belong. My opinion of course.

Ok so I know this comment is really late and I’m embarassed at my ignorance but why was this vote passed with just a majority and not the 2/3?
Haha that’s ok, good question. Basically, the House used a method called “reconciliation” which means that they can pass a bill with no bi-partisan effort and only a simple majority. Add to that the “Slaughter Rule” in which members can vote for that rule and not the bill, merely deeming the bill passed without a vote and thus keeping their hands clean, and you have a history-making bill passage, for all the wrong reasons.
