A Happy New Year

How many times have you wished your friends and family a Happy New Year? And how many times has it always been so?

The question should be “Will you have a Happy New Year in spite of all the not so happy things that might befall you?”

Life is never all sweetness and light, happiness and joy. If that is all we expect we are sure to be disappointed. The Bible says our happiness is through God.

God, mark us with grace and blessing! Smile! The whole country will see how you work, all the godless nations see how you save. God! Let people thank and enjoy you. Let all people thank and enjoy you. Let all far-flung people become happy and shout their happiness because you judge them fair and square, you tend the far-flung peoples. God! Let people thank and enjoy you. Let all people thank and enjoy you. Earth, display your exuberance! You mark us with blessing, O God, our God. You mark us with blessing, O God. Earth’s four corners—honor him! (Psalm 67:1-7, MSG)

Let us all choose the happiness that comes from knowing God in all his glory and his Son Jesus in all his salvation strength.

That will be our true happiness and our personal strength this year, no matter what befalls us.

Prayer-Father God, thank you for the opportunity to choose happiness no matter what 2018 brings to us.
