A Stiff Breeze

Our street looks like it is set up for a garage sale this afternoon. We had a storm last night and the wind tossed branches, trash containers, baskets, and other assorted items onto the street. Cars play dodge ball as they traverse the road.

We start out our life with Christ just like those cars. Our goal is to travel a straight path to our destination. The road seems clear, until a stiff breeze of comment or criticism blows our way.
Perhaps we get sidetracked by other people’s stuff or maybe it’s a less than stalwart friend.

What will we do if we are offered some new deal that is slightly off our God-given path? Will we dodge the things that interfere with God, like those cars did today? Will we try to run them over using our own strength or will we aim for the straight path and keep to it? The choice is always ours.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV)]

Prayer – God, we need all the straightening you can give us. Thanks Amen
