A Funeral For Baby And The Four F’s

My first cousin’s baby girl of 5 died in a tragic accident Saturday night and the funeral was Friday.  She died instantly in a freak auto accident that was not my cousins fault at all.  Yes, it was so difficult yesterday. Tears and more tears but we took consolation in what I called the Four F's:  faith, family, fellowship, and food.  It was healing in many ways, but truly the pain will never completely go away until the kingdom of heaven is here but we are sustained by the faith that comes from God, by family, and by fellowship with the family and the Body of Christ, the church.

What I can never forget is that this precious little girl asked her mommy just before the accident a very common question but one that this young girl had never asked before.  She asked “Mommy, what does God look like?”  Today this girl could tell us a few things about what God looks like and also give us a vivid description of what heaven is like.

As I said in my previous article, we don’t have to grieve like the world does who don’t know Christ but even today I can cry at the drop of a hat when I think of that young girl in the casket and being lowered into the ground Friday.  But it is only a shell.  Here life being, her spirit, are with the Lord, Jesus Christ today.  I leave you with these comforting words from Paul in I Thessalonians 4:13-18.  “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.  According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.”

“…Amen. Even so, come, Lord.”  Jesus speaking in Revelation 22:20.
