One of my friends is always giving me gifts. I appreciate it. However when I try to give her something in return, she refuses. She has the gift of giving but the gift of receiving is totally foreign to her.
She could benefit from the advice in Hebrews 4:14-16, MSG, especially the last line.
Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.
Did you see that? Take the mercy, accept the help.
If we can’t accept anything from a friend how will we ever accept what God offers us? You know; things like this.
-an open door –Matthew 7:8
-joy-Matthew 13:20
-sight- Luke 18:42
-answers to prayer- Matthew 21:22
-the kingdom of God-Mark 10:15
-the Holy Spirit- John 20:22
-power- Acts 1:8
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—(John 1:12, NIV
Prayer-Father, we choose to receive everything you offer us… Thank you. Amen.
