After Valentines Day

Did you get flowers and candy? Count yourself blessed. Poor Adam’s first Valentines Day didn’t go so well.

Valentine, what can I say?
It’s not your basic, average day.
It’s chocolate, fur, flowers and more,
Mostly from men, so woe-man won’t be sore.

Woe-man is just what Adam did say
On his very first Valentine’s Day.
It cost him dearly, that first fur coat.
He had to give up his favorite goat.

And then he had to move
Far from God’s peace
And all just because
Of apple and fleece! (from Genesis 3)

The rhyme isn’t exactly Biblical but the truth remains.

Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the profuseness of spiritual joy]. (Isaiah 55:2, AMP)

Prayer –  Father God, please help us yearn after you instead of what just looks good for the moment. Amen
