Not only are we to be apples true to our tree; our preachers are called to do the same.
“Be wary of false preachers who smile a lot, dripping with practiced sincerity. Chances are they are out to rip you off some way or other. Don’t be impressed with charisma; look for the character.
Who preachers are is the main thing, not what they say. A genuine leader will never exploit your emotions or your pocketbook. These diseased trees with their bad apples are going to be chopped down and burned. (Matthew 7:15-20 MSG)
That’s why it pays to be familiar with a truly real apple tree. That way you can pick out what is not real and true and good and God-following.
Prayer- Lord we are guilty of following those who are not really part of your crop. We are swayed by the easy living promised by a hoard of the silky smooth preachers. Open our eyes, Lord, that we might see Jesus. Amen.
