Apples or Onions

My friend says she can eat an onion like an apple. I say that is wrong! An onion should be eaten like an onion and an apple like an apple! After all, an onion is supposed to be an onion. If it is so mild that it can be eaten like an apple, it is not a good onion. Is it?

That brings to mind those of us who say we are Christians. The definition of Christian is Christ-follower; that is one who believes in Christ and exhibits kindness, helpfulness and concern for others.

Are you brave enough to ask yourself this question?

Am I really living true to the teaching of Christ or am I an onion pretending to be an apple?

Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. (Philippians 4:8-9, MSG)

Prayer – Father God, help us to be the best Christ followers that we can be. Amen
