Are You Kidding Me?

“Oh, I know I love him because he makes my heart go pitter-patter.” declared the lovesick young woman. I dared to ask if she would love him when he came home all sweaty and smelly from work. Would she love him when he had the flu or when he lost his job? What if he fell asleep during one of her heartfelt conversations?

She shook her head proudly—“Why, none of that will happen to us.” she declared.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Love is a decision, NOT a whim of the heart. Love is deciding to do the right thing even when you don’t feel like it. Love is baking your hubby a pie when you are upset with him.

Why does that work? Love is a decision, not a whim of the heart. We can decide to love or not. We can do things that speak love even though we do not feel love at the time. Then… in time…we will actually begin to feel that love for real.

This is what love is.

And what this love consists in is this: that we live and walk in accordance with and guided by His commandments (His orders, ordinances, precepts, teaching). This is the commandment, as you have heard from the beginning, that you continue to walk in love [guided by it and following it]. (2 John 1:6, AMP)

Prayer- Lord, we are getting out flour for the pastry and peeling apples for the pie filling. Help us carry through on our decision to love. Amen
