Babel On

You know the story. People decided to build the build the most prominent tower ever, in the best place ever. Nobody bothered to ask God what he thought of the whole thing. It started so simply.

“Let us make bricks became let us build a city, and that became let us create a tower to the sky. Finally, the real truth emerged. Let us make a name for ourselves. (Genesis 11:1-4)

And God saw this and said “This is only the beginning of what they will do. Nothing will be out of their reach. So God confounded their language, and they actually lived out their greatest fear…to be scattered all over the earth. (Genesis 11:5-9)

Friends note this truth. The thing we fear becomes our reality. Job found this out the hard way. He had been expecting his children to do something awful for years. (Job 1:1-5)

For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. (Job 3:25, KJV)

Job’s own fear overtook what he knew about God. He put himself in a place of danger by not hearing, listening and obeying God who says to all of us…Do not fear! Job lived in a stronghold of fear instead in the promises of God.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7, KJV)

What are you afraid of? How is it impacting the way you live your life? Decide now to set fear aside and instead choose to live by faith.

Prayer- Lord, I confess that I have feared_______________. I choose now to walk in faith because you say so. Amen.
