It’s time to throw that steak on the Barbie, right? Got the grill all cleaned up and ready to go? Will you have it rare, medium or well done?
Apparently you should never ask for well done in a restaurant because the chef gives you the oldest, toughest steak available. When it’s that well cooked you just can’t tell what it was.
Christians are rather like that. Some of us are so well-done, so set in the ways we established upon our salvation many years ago, that we have no patience for new folk or their new ideas.
Many a born again believer has morphed into a Scribe. Why, if given enough time, a lack of personal Bible study and prayer, why a few even switch into full blown Pharisee mode.
Of course I’m speaking generally; of course. It would never be you or me, because we keep close to Jesus, right? We study God’s word, right? We love our neighbour, right?
Oh it would never be us…for sure.
Beware of the scribes, who like to walk about in long robes and love to be saluted [with honor] in places where people congregate and love the front and best seats in the synagogues and places of distinction at feasts. (Luke 20:46, AMP)
And Jesus [repeatedly and expressly] charged and admonished them, saying, Look out; keep on your guard and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. (Mark 8:15a, AMP)
Prayer – Father, forgive us for sliding away from you, into sin. Help us get turned around. Amen
