I would never do….
But you do and you have and you might even continue.
It may be a family member, even a spouse, perhaps a friend, a caregiver, and even staff in a seniors’ care facility. This person may be financially, physically, or even sexually abusive to the elderly person in their care. These are criminal actions that are seldom reported because the elderly fear even worse.
Oh, we brag, “I have not done THESE things. I would never do these things!”
Shall I ask how many holidays has your granny spent alone, without card, call, or care? Neglect comes in a variety of levels.
Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly, and revere your God. I am the LORD. (Leviticus 19:32)
We were all once young and healthy, yet now we find our bodies in a shape that we never expected when we were twenty! We are bent out of shape, literally. We use hearing aids, walking aids and sometimes we need a human aid.
And friend, dear grandchild, niece, or nephew, someday you will be bent out of shape. Your family will follow your example. What does it look like?
“Show respect to the aged; honor the presence of an elder; fear your God. I am God. (Leviticus 19:32)
