In a novel church service, the pastor started two boxes of mints at the front of the church and two at the back. “Open them and enjoy them,” he said. Pass them up and down the aisles. “I don’t mind the rustling paper. I’ll preach while you snack.”
All went well, till a box came to our section for the second time. The gal at the end of our row refused them. I heard her say, “No thanks, we already had some!” And off went the mints. For the next half hour, 3/4 of the church continued to eat mints while our section got none!
One person stopped the blessing for all of us. Can this happen on a larger scale? Can one person stop a blessing meant for others? Oh yes.
Miriam (Moses’ sister) disobeyed God and her punishment affected the people around her.
So Miriam was shut up without the camp for seven days, and the people did not journey on until Miriam was brought in again. (Numbers 12:15, AMP)
Prayer: Lord, show us anywhere our disobedience is holding back our spouse, family, work situation, community or even our country. Then give us courage to change in Christ. Amen.
