Burping Seniors

This is the comment that started me on this devotional.

“Where do seniors get the idea that old age suddenly gives them permission to burp whatever rude thought they have in their head?”

Well I know it wasn’t God because he says… If you’re dumb enough to call attention to yourself by offending people and making rude gestures, don’t be surprised if someone bloodies your nose… (Proverbs 30:32-33, MSG)

What kind of impression do we leave on the folks we meet? Surely our life’s work should be similar to Jehoiada’s.

He died at a ripe old age—130 years old! They buried him in the royal cemetery because he had such a distinguished life of service to Israel and God and God’s Temple. (2 Chronicles 24:15-16, MSG)

Prayer –  Lord may we, even in old age, live the words of Ephesians 4:29 (KJV): Let no corrupt communication proceed out of our mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. For Christ who gives us strength. Amen
