Busy Lizzy or should I say Maniac Martha?

In Norma Farber’s delightful poem, “The Queens Came Late”, several royal queens leave their busy lives behind in order to see the newborn Christ child. They brought his mother Mary a clean dress, and a pot of soup.
They only stayed a few minutes because their responsibilities included to-do-lists, piles of laundry, uncooked dinners, business meetings and children.
Like Martha, we complain about unreasonable demands on our time, even though we are the ones in charge of our lists! We set our schedule. We can re-organize. We can say no.
Prayer-Lord, if only we would spend you time wisely, how much more could we do for your kingdom. Amen.
