What is the worst thing your kid has called you? I heard this term lately and though it wasn’t said about me, it probably could have been.
“My Momma is a travel agent for guilt,” he moaned. Whew. I am glad to say that he wasn’t talking about me! (That’s not to say I haven’t deserved the term occasionally.)
Just in case one of your ‘travel agents’ sent you to the Land of Guilt, know this. Guilt is not a God feeling.
It was sin that made death so frightening and law-code guilt that gave sin its leverage, its destructive power. But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three—sin, guilt, death—are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God! (See 1 Corinthians 15:51-57, MSG)
And don’t be your own travel agent for guilt either. God has forgiven you. Forgive yourself.
And now, children, stay with Christ. Live deeply in Christ. Then we’ll be ready for him when he appears, ready to receive him with open arms, with no cause for red-faced guilt or lame excuses when he arrives. (1 John 2:28, MSG)
Prayer- Lord, help us walk away from guilt in any form and choose love, for the Christ who died that we might be guilt free. Amen.
