If you aren’t seeing clearly, you should have your ‘I’s’ checked. Take Elijah for instance. In the name of God, he’d declared a drought, raised a boy from the dead, called down fire from heaven, and a dozen other amazing things you can read for yourself. But then he hid in a cave.
Then the word of God came to him: “So Elijah, what are you doing here?”
“I’ve been working my heart out for the God-of-the-Angel-Armies,” said Elijah. “The people of Israel have abandoned your covenant, destroyed the places of worship, and murdered your prophets. I’m the only one left, and now they’re trying to kill me.” (I Kings 19:9-10, MSG )
And he repeats the whole thing again in verses 13-14. The minute Elijah turned his attention to himself and away from God; he lost his strength, confidence and ability to serve God.
Like I said…If you aren’t seeing clearly, you should have your ‘I’s checked.
Prayer -Lord, help us turn our eyes upon Jesus! Amen.
