Our youngest grandson just spoke his first word. Cheese!!
I ask his Daddy. “Does he like cheese?”
“Nope.” says Daddy. “He just likes to say it.”
Hmmm…I wonder if there have been too many camera snaps in his past. That must be it. Other wise why would he pick cheese to say over mom, dad or cookie? Many of us like to say the word Christian too. We call ourselves Christian, but do not live like one.
Colossians 3:9a-Don't lie to one another. (MSG)
Colossians 3:14- So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offence. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it (MSG).
Have we really examined ourselves in the light of God’s Word? What does our life look like? Do our actions display the Christ? If not…why not? Are we nothing but cheese sayers?
Prayer: Lord, you call us to a higher life, one that involves more than just a word. Don’t let us just say the word Christian, but instead be one in name and deed. Amen.
