Christ in the Old Testament (Deserted)

I pray that when I breathe my last, these words will be on my lips too.

“Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God” (From Psalm 31:5).

“Jesus called out with a loud voice, ‘Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.’ When he had said this, he breathed his last” (From Luke 23:46).

And where were his faithful followers? Where are you now with the Christ?

“Because of all my enemies, I am the utter contempt of my neighbors and an object of dread to my closest friends—those who see me on the street flee from me” (From Psalm 31:11).

And as it was foretold…”Then everyone deserted him and fled” (From Mark 14:50).

“Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me” (From Psalm 41:9).

These prophecies are in no particular order, lest you weary and grow faint upon the reading of them.

Imagine, the Christ having the last supper with his followers while this was going on. Who are you plotting to kill with your words, your actions?

“For I hear many whisperings, ‘Terror on every side!’ They conspire against me and plot to take my life” (From Psalm 31:13).

“Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed” (From Matthew 27:1).

Prayer- Lord, even now we whisper bad thoughts that tear others down. Guard our mouths Lord, that we not sin against thee. Amen.
