Christmas in May

I dream of the day I can give everyone a spectacular Christmas. Every family will have an outrageously wonderful roast beef or turkey dinner.

Every child will open at least three special gifts. The adults will get piles of money to pay their taxes, and enough groceries for a month.

I’ll lavish them with paid receipts from their debt pile. Then give them at least one gift to fulfill the desires of their heart. I’d invite them to my house and be their friend; their listening ear.

Oh won’t it be a lovely Christmas? And it often is, in December. But today is only May. Aren’t people still hungry? Don’t pantries still run short of food stuffs? Don’t children need clothes? Aren’t hearts lonely?

Meanwhile we dream of the perfect Christmas, while people live on the street, suffer alone, cry alone, and starve alone…….because Christmas ….is coming.

If only we were in charge of Christmas…….we would do so much……

Matthew 25:37-40- “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’   “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (NIV).

Prayer: Lord thanks for reminding us that every day is Christmas Day. For Jesus’ Sake. Amen.
