Church Flu only shows up a few times a year. You know, whenever there’s a work bee to clean or spruce up the building. I checked several on-line Bible versions for the word flu but only found words like this. “FLU-te, FLU-unk, FLU-uttering FLU-sh, FLU-ng,”
I guess you could say that when the church flute calls us to help, we flunk the call by fluttering into the bushes, flushing with embarrassment, for we have flung our credibility into the wind.
Helping around the church is like helping around home. We helped make it dirty; we need to help make it clean.
Funny, that is true of our personal selves too, isn’t it!
Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean. (Matthew 23:26, NIV)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1John 1:9, NIV)
Prayer – Lord, forgive us for all the times we have been averse to cleaning of any kind. Amen
