Clean Up Christmas

Decorations that looked sparkly in the store and shiny on our porch, now look tired and dated. Wrapping paper that cost a fortune is in the recycle bin. Stale treats line our hips and we are oh so tired of Christmas carols.

We were so full of Christmas excitement and joy on December 24. Now we just want the whole mess cleared away. What happened?

Our problem might be that when we clean up Christmas we also clear away any vestige of the Christ Child.

You remember him. The One who came to earth as a baby, to save us from our sins? I only mention this because our next big ‘remember’ isn’t till Easter.

What will we do until then?

But there’s one other thing I remember, and remembering, I keep a grip on hope:  God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,     his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great your faithfulness! I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
He’s all I’ve got left.  (Lamentations 3:21-24, MSG)

Prayer – Father God, remind us daily of Christmas while we await Easter. Amen
