We won’t be celebrating in the old ways today. What can we say? Times are so different now.
In so many ways we now feel abandoned and lonely, forgotten and robbed, afraid and unsure.
Friends, this is not true. No matter what life looks like now, please take these words into your heart.
Then be happy, for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow. Let it grow and don’t try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete. (James 1:2-4, LB)
Do you not discern and understand that you, the whole church are God’s temple and his sanctuary? God’s Spirit has His permanent dwelling in you collectively as a church and also individually. (From 1 Corinthians 3:16, AMPC)
Friends, I tell you that the country is not the celebrating the people. We, the people, are the country!
The country is not any bigger with bands and fireworks. The country is what we are.
Prayer- Oh God, give us the courage to stop squirming out of life’s circumstances. We want to be like ketchup bottles, squeezed and yet pouring out Jesus. Amen.
