With political tensions in Honduras soaring over the coup of President Manuel Zelaya, Christian aid organization Compassion International has temporarily closed its roughly 75 projects in near the capital of Tegucigalpa. Zelaya is expected to return to the country this weekend as part of the power struggle with Roberto Micheletti, inserted after a coup on Sunday. A Compassion statement said staff is leaving offices an hour early as a precaution. Staff is also working on contingency plan for continuing services if the political unrest persists.
