Today, every page I write in Microsoft Office shows up full of funny squiggles and dots. There are lines where I do not want them and paragraph beginnings I resent. My pages are unreadable but if I send them to someone else they look perfectly correct. Humph!!
Sometimes we are just like my computer. We look perfectly correct to the world. After all, we like to put our best foot forward. We shine out joy, peace and light on purpose.
But when we are alone and life is only visible to ourselves (and God) lots of unbecoming black sin marks, interrupting dots and paragraphs of unfinished business show up.
Oh what to do, what to do? The computer fixing is easy. It’s just a matter of getting out the manual, reading it and doing what it says.
Wait a minute! Isn’t that the same way to fix things between us and God? Get out our manual, the Bible, and read it. (Oh, you have to dust it off first? I will wait.)
Matthew 23:27-28-Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you are like whitewashed tombs that look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and all kinds of filth. So you also outwardly appear to others as righteous but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness (MSG).
OH, OH. Better read something else.
John 3:16-For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (KJV)
Prayer: Lord, we can fool the world for a long time but we can never fool you. Grant us the sense to make decisions based on your word. In Jesus' name. Amen.
