Count on It

Energy doesn’t come from sitting in a chair or shmoozing another caffeine-loaded drink. We need to pop on a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps per day. It isn’t that hard. (Really!)  We don’t need to sit for long stretches of time. We can get up, move around, and breathe deeply. We can skip through the mall or slide down a snow hill with the kids.

Why not change our daily routine? What would happen if we ate dinner backwards or showered in the morning instead of at night! Finally, we can replace the junk in our diet with fruit and vegetables.

Results? We didn’t fly to an exotic location, or sleep a week away at a spa but we will increase our energy, our blood flow, change our attitude and more. Most importantly, we’ll be ready when the ‘day’ comes.

“Count on it: The day is coming, raging like a forest fire. All the arrogant people who do evil things will be burned up like stove wood, burned to a crisp, nothing left but scorched earth and ash— a black day. But for you, sunrise! The sun of righteousness will dawn on those who honor my name, healing radiating from its wings. You will be bursting with energy, like colts frisky and frolicking. And you’ll tromp on the wicked. They’ll be nothing but ashes under your feet on that Day.” God-of-the-Angel-Armies says so. (Malachi 4:1-3, MSG)

Prayer: Lord, may we all do our part to get ready for whatever you have in store for us. In Christ. Amen.
