Don’t kick yourself for choosing the wrong line, the one that never seems to move. Instead congratulate yourself for getting something done. Whatever you do, don’t try to shortcut your way to your destination.
Your line up might just be creating the time you need to share a word with the person ahead or behind you in line. Maybe no one has spoken a word to them all day and you have the sweet opportunity to encourage them.
A long line on the highway does not create a talking moment but you can show generosity there by not beeping your horn, cutting in line or rushing a stop sign.
The way to God takes time and thought. Our closeness depends on conscious use of our every day time.
“Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with sure fire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention. (Matthew 7:13-14, MSG)
Prayer- Lord, give us grace to be gracious in line ups. For Christ who lined up to die for us. Amen.
